Arriving in Sydney from Brisbane for the first of two mini breaks, we jump in our car for a thirty minute drive from Sydney airport to The William Inglis Hotel by M Gallery. Greeted in the chic lobby with an array of subtle horse racing themed touches it’s time to check out our room; ‘The Black Caviar’ suite. Full of marble and lux soft velvet furnishings as well as little hints to horse racing all around the suite, we settle in to our room before catching the sunset on the roof top pool of the hotel… A perfect first day to our two day stay.
For dinner we pop down to ‘Newmarket Room‘ restaurant for dinner to discover the most delicious fresh oysters in champagne vinaigrette I think I have ever tried. We then try the spaghetti with prawns which is also delightful. I can’t help admire the black and white paintings of horses in the restaurant and more touches of horse racing history. After dinner we head upstairs to the 1867 Lounge for a night cap before bed. I am dreaming of a massage tomorrow!
After breakfast the next morning we take a little stroll around the property to see the pretty stables and grounds before I slip into the Talisa Wellness Spa in the hotel for a relaxing oil massage. It’s been the busiest year and I always find massage the best way to switch off from the universe. Post massage (so relaxed!) while the sun is shining I head up to the rooftop pool area to do some sketching. It’s not quite warm enough today for a swim sadly so I just enjoy the views and some time to paint for no reason at all… My favourite thing to do when away from the office.
That evening we decide on ordering cheese burgers from room service for a cosy night in. The next morning I look out the window to see that there are horses training which is lovely to just watch and relax from our bedroom window. Sadly, I realise, it’s time to check out….
